Tak Peters

Establishment Board Chair

Kia ora koutou. I tipu ake ahau ki Ōtautahi. Nā, ko Te Heru-o-Kahukura te maunga, ko Ōpāwaho te awa. Kei Tauwharekākako tōku kainga ināianei. Ko Tak Peters tōku ingoa.

It is a privilege to be the Establishment Board of Trustees Chair of Tē Rōhutu Whio alongside our talented and dedicated trustees and leadership team.

I spent the majority of my childhood living in Japan while taking trips to Ōtautahi to see my extended whānau. We moved to Ōtautahi in 2007 where I attended High School and University. I am a kaiako at Waitaha School and have been a part of multiple teams over the last few years.

I loved working in Rolleston so much that last year we built in Rolleston! In my spare time, you will find me tinkering away in my garage on cars and mopeds or outside working in the vegetable garden.

Ko Jenny Tippet tōku ingoa.

Kia ora i te whānau, I feel privileged to be a first time Establishment Board of Trustees member for our new aspirational kura; Te Rōhutu Whio.

I come to the board with an early childhood background, starting out as a registered kaiako teaching. I am now a service provider of preschool services to the Rolleston community. I am passionate about cross-sector relationships, particularly within our local learning community and am a big advocate for quality education as a whole. I am so excited to see our senior leadership team bring the board’s vision to life. I live with my whānau of four in Rolleston and our two boys attend another excellent local school. Together we like to play board games, swim and ‘chillax’ at home.

Tēnā koutou

Kia ora koutou,

I am Kate Duncan and have been lucky enough to be a member of the Establishment Board of Trustees. We began this journey amongst covid last year, and what a year it has been! What an honour and privilege to work with my other EBoT members to create what will be, a once in a lifetime opportunity. The conception of our values and beliefs started so cohesively and easily,  then we managed to employ a principal who held those beliefs, and now has a team that carries these on.

I have had previous EBoT experience with helping set up West Rolleston Primary School – Te Kura o te Uru Kōwhai. I’m also a teacher at the fabulous Waitaha School. I’ve had 20 years of experience in teaching ranging from early childhood, to year 8, along with DP and various management roles. I’ve been lucky enough to do ESOL, learning support and ORs teaching amongst these. I’m also a long term community member and have had my children at Rolleston schools and preschools over the years.

Kia ora koutou, Ko Wharepapa te maunga, Ko Waimea te awa, Nō Whakatū ahau, Kei te noho ahau ki Waikirikiri inaianei, Ko Hocken toku whanau, Ko Keren toku ingoa.

It is an honour to be on the Establishment Board of Trustees for Te Rōhutu Whio. We came together as a board just before Covid really hit Aotearoa with a clear vision for what we wanted this kura to look and feel like and it is wonderful to see that vision coming alive.

I live locally with my whānau and am passionate about creating educational environments where all tamariki (children) can thrive. I have a background in paediatric occupational therapy within both health and education as well as more recent administrative experience within education. I was also on the Establishment Board of Trustees for Te Uru Tarata Lemonwood Grove School.

Tēnā koutou. Ko Aoraki te maunga. Ko Okana te awa. Ko Wairewa te moana. Ko Uruao te waka. Ko Kāi Tahu te iwi. Ko Ngāti Irakēhu, ko Ngāti Makō ngā hapū, Ko Wairewa te hapū. Ko Makō te marae. Ko Robert tōku ingoa. Nō reira, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa. Mauri ora ki a koutou.

Kia ora, I am Robert (Rob) McInnes. I am honoured to be co-opted into the board of Te Rōhutu Whio. I am looking forward to giving the board and the school my all, to assist our tamariki to grow and learn in a positive and welcoming environment.

So: who am I? I have 3 tamariki: our twins Jack and Chloe in the Reorua unit, and an older daughter at Rolleston Collage. I have a beautiful wife who is a councillor for Selwyn District Council. I am also studying Te Reo Māori at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.

By day, I am a commercial beekeeper running hives in both Canterbury and the Waikato. I love the outdoors and all the challenges this business brings. I was previously a mechanical design engineer, which allowed me to travel the world, work with people of diverse backgrounds, and contribute to some wonderful designs like the Antigua footbridge. During my downtime I enjoy cycling, fishing, camping, and playing my banjo, guitar and ukulele with my kids.
