Please watch this video to learn how the kindo app can make payments easier for you at Te Rōhutu Whio

85 Kate Sheppard Drive, Acland Park, Rolleston

This has been determined by the Ministry through consultation with the community and local schools. If you live in the home zone you have automatic entry into the school. Please see the Whakaurunga Enrolments tab of the website for our bi-lingual reo rua criteria for entry. Children do not have to start school until they turn 6 (this may be useful for those who turn 6 later in this year).

You can enrol at any time using our online enrolment form. We appreciate pre-enrolment as it helps with our planning. Enrolment is finalised closer to the start date and requires proof of address that you are residing (or building) in our zone. All information is found on our enrolment page.

Our uniform has been developed by the Board and with input from our community. The majority of the uniform can be purchased through Mainland Uniforms. Navy shorts, pants, skorts or skirts can be bought from anywhere you choose. We believe that it is important for tamariki to be themselves and they are able to “express yourself through your socks” by choosing their favourite designs, animals and colours.

All new enrolments will meet with the Kaihautū team before beginning. This is a chance for you to tell us about your whānau, and to let us know how best to transition your child to Te Rōhutu Whio. After this you will be invited to a personalised learning conference with your child’s whānau teacher. These are held every term, whānau and ākonga learners will meet with whānau teachers to review and plan your child’s learning goals.

When a 5-year-old starts with us they will have two or three visits with their cohort and whānau teacher. This allows 5 year olds time to meet other tamariki and learn some routines.  More can be arranged if needed. Your child’s whānau teacher will contact your with information about these visits.

Our older tamariki are welcome to come for visits before starting, we will discuss this at your enrolment meeting with our Kaihautū team.

We have before and after school care available through Busy Bumbles.  Our day starts at 8.30 am and finishes at 2.30 pm. Children may be on site from 8.10 am, however earlier than this they will need to be enrolled at Busy Bumbles if they are on site.

Yes. Cohort enrolments mean that tamariki start at Te Rōhutu Whio with a group of children around the same age. For more information about cohort enrolment please follow this link

We are an Apple school and supply iPads for tamariki to use at school. Children are welcome to bring a device from Year 4 on and we encourage this to be an iPad as this is what fits best with our ICT systems.

We have Year 1-8 which means that we have 5 year olds through to 13 year olds.

Te Rōhutu Whio uses School Docs as our policy and procedure system. Policies are monitored by SchoolDocs and updated, modified or created in response to changes in legislation, significant events, Ministry guidelines, reviews/requests from schools and regular reviewing from the SchoolDocs team.  Each term there are policies and procedures for review.
