My name is Kate Morgan
I am excited to be the Kaihautū Principal of Te Rōhutu Whio. I am looking forward to meeting your whānau and hearing your ideas of how we can make Te Rōhutu Whio a magical place for your child. I am passionate about finding the strengths of every tamaiti child so that they may grow their wings to fly in our big, wide world!
With four children of our own, aged from thirteen to nineteen I believe that aroha love and exploring passions alongside high expectations helps them to grow into ākonga learners who are excited and curious about the world. I believe that when tamariki children are grounded in their roots and know about their whānau, traditions and culture, they are able to gain confidence through having a strong sense of self.
I am passionate about education, having worked closely with babies right up to secondary school tauira students. I have had extensive leadership experience throughout my career. One of my highlights has been leading workshops about best teaching practices around Aotearoa as well as leading and coaching large teams of kaiako teachers in Ōtautahi.
In my spare time, I enjoy walking our dog Paddington in the hills, swimming at the beach with our whānau and getting lost in a good book. I look forward to getting to know your child as an individual and celebrating their uniqueness! ‘Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti arahia o tatou mahi’ Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work’.
What an honour it is to work with you, our new Te Rōhutu Whio whānau! I look forward to creating alongside you, a magical and fun place where all tamariki love learning and are part of a huge, happy whānau which is all of us together.
Ngā mihi nui,
Kate Morgan
